Interaction Situation
The robot needs to show user some information from an external source. The robot wants to gain the user’s attention and then direct it on the information. The user needs to understand where the information is located and what the robot is showing.
Solution
Let the robot express that:
- It wants the user to pay attention to what is happening next (Demanding attention)
- It directs its attention towards the user using a user-oriented positioning in the room, letting robot and user face each other. (Attentive)
- It directs its attention to a source of information and wants the user to follow with her gaze and perceive this information as well, by directing its gaze and/or body towards the information or making a defined pointing gesture towards it. (Directing attention)
- To better direct the user’s attention towards the information, the previous two steps can be alternated, so that the robot switches between directing its attention to the user and the external information.
- Its operation mode is <on> setting the status light to permanently glowing. (Operation mode on)
