Interaction Situation
Humans and robots move in the same space. The robot reduces the speed of its movement. The braking of the robot might influence pedestrians walking and cyclists behind and in front of the robot as they might need to slow down as well or change their path to avoid (near-)collisions.

Design Solution
Solution
Let the robot express that it is slowing down by using a violet brake light that is positioned at the middle in the back and front of the robot. The change of movement speed could also be made more salient by adjusting the movement sound of the robot accordingly: lower volume and deeper pitch for slow movement, higher volume and pitch for faster movement.
Rationale
Vehicles indicate a speed reduction using brake lights at the middle back of the vehicle to warn other road users about this deceleration and to allow them to adapt their trajectories accordingly. Therefore, most people are accustomed to the concept of brake lights, as most people take part in some form of road traffic.
